• The Cub Scouts are a parent-volunteer run organization. Parents are required to fill Pack, Den, and Committee roles to help with planning and running events.

• Grades K-5 constitute the “Pack” which meets monthly on the 2ndWednesday of each month at from 6:30pm to 7:30pm

• “Dens” are grouped by grade and is where Scouting program is taught. Dens typically meet 1-2 times a month. Each Den is required to have 2 parent volunteers registered and trained through Scouting America (1 Den Leader and 1 assistant Den Leader) at minimum.

• Parents are required to attend meetings with their scout and are always welcome to participate. It is a great opportunity spend time with your scout! Drops offs can be considered at the Webelos and Arrow of Light Levels (4th-5thgrade) with prior Den Leader approval.

• Pack 1 Westwood is a “Family” pack, meaning we are open to both boys and girls. Per Scouting America rules: There must be a registered female adult leader 21 years of age or over in every unit serving females. A registered female adult leader 21 years of age or over must be present for any activity involving female youth or female adult program participants.

• Your investment in Scouting includes:

  • 1 Pack meeting per month

  • 1-2 Den meetings per month

  • Two camping trips (Fall/Spring)

• New Members - Register at beascout.scouting.org, or use the CR Code at the top of this flyer.

  • Type 02090 for Zip code and Select the Cub Scout Logo, then click “Find a unit.”

  • Find Pack 0001 First Baptist Church of Westwood, click APPLY NOW

  • Follow Prompts to register your Youth.

  • Complete the Youth Application and pay Scouting America registration fees online.

*Scout applications will be accepted into the Pack contingent upon having a minimum of two registered leaders to run the Den

• Returning Members: All memberships are managed online through the Scouting.org website. Your membership is valid for 1 calendar year from when you first registered online. The system will email you when you expiration date approaches. Pack dues are to be paid at the Sept parents meeting

• Scouting America Fees are: $85 Annual Registration Fee + $48 Adventure card for New England Base Camp. Scouts Life Magazine subscription is optional at $15/yr.

• Separate from Scouting America Fees are Pack Dues, which are $185/yr.– make check payable to Westwood Pack 1 and bring to September parent meeting OR, PayPal to wwcubscouts@gmail.comwith bank funds prior to meeting. If using your credit card via PayPal, please add $4 to cover the cost of the transaction cost.

Uniforms are a visible way for a Scout to show they are a part of the Pack. They also look really sharp in pictures! If you purchase a larger size, it will last for years.
